60th Anniversary: Highlights and Activities on Open Day

Date:
05 Jun 2016

Forschungszentrum Jülich’s 60th anniversary is a major feature of Open Day from 10:00 to 17:00 on Sunday, 5 June 2016.

The exhibition celebrating the anniversary can be seen in the foyer of the Central Library on Open Day. Historian and archivist Prof. Bernd-A. Rusinek will be on hand for guided tours.

The exhibition is one of the highlights on that day. Other activities in the foyer include:

Photos and their (hi)stories

Between 11:00 and 16:00, we will present fascinating photos from Jülich’s 60-year history on the stage in the foyer. Host Michael Brocker will welcome guests who know the history and the stories behind the photos. The a capella choir Feynsang will provide musical accompaniment.

Wanted: memories

What experiences do you associate with Forschungszentrum Jülich? What special event stands out in your memories? We want to know. Why not tell us your story about Forschungszentrum Jülich in the foyer of the lecture theatre?

Researchers’ café

What does research look like these days, and what is the outlook for the future? What does a normal working day look like at the institute? In our researchers’ café in the foyer of the Central Library, scientists will join you for a cup of coffee and will be happy to talk about their research fields and answer your questions.

Institute presentations

Some institutes will be showing how their work has developed over the past decades. This includes contributions from the Central Institute of Engineering, Electronics and Analytics (ZEA-2, building 02.5), Planning and Building Services (B, building 03.9), and the Central Library (building 04.7).

Entry to Forschungszentrum Jülich and to the exhibition is free of charge.

After Open Day, the exhibition will only be open to the public as part of a guided tour. Please contact our Visitor Service.
